The Bogibeel bridge is a Asias 2nd greatest combined road and rail bridge over the Brahmaputra river in the northeastern Indian state of Assam involving Dhemaji district and Dibrugarh district, which was started in the year 2002 and took a total of 200 months to finish the project as heavy rains in the region being the most important cause for the slow progress. Bogibeel river bridge is the greatest rail cum road bridge within India measuring 4.94 kilometers over the Brahmaputra river. It’s Indias bridge. This is Asias 2nd rail cum road bridge which has a period of about 120 years.

This is the 4th greatest bridge in India following Bhupen Hazarika Setu, Mahatma Gandhi Setu, and Bandra Worli Sea Link. As hospitals, medical colleges and airport are the biggest city in the Northeast, in Dibrugarh the bridge and the train will be a boon for those of Dhemaji. Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated it on the event of Good Governance Day on December 2018. Matters have shifted after May 2014 and topmost priority has been accorded to projects that were key. Delayed infra jobs were adversely impacting Indias growth trajectory, PM Modi said following inaugurating the Bogibeel bridge. The inauguration of its bridge coincided with its birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, under whose government its work for its bridge launched in news2002.

The Bogibeel job has been a part of its 1985 Assam Accord and has been sanctioned in 1997-98. The building blocks was laid by then prime minister Hi-def Deve Gouda about January 22, 1997, but its beginning of work on the job was done by Vajpayee on Apr 21, 2002. The importance of Bogibeel Bridge in northeastern India: The inauguration of its rail cum road Bogibeel Bridge across its Brahmaputra River in Assam is an essential Milestone in enhancing connectivity in northeast India. Connectivity through both rail and road within this area has lagged most other portions Of India, partially on account of the terrain.

With the conclusion of Bogibeel, the space of the train journey involving Assam and Arunachal Pradesh has been compressed by 80%. In accordance with the government, five more connectivity jobs are under construction, indicating which travel time in the area will continue to shorten. Enhanced connectivity in the Northeast will result in two benefits. One, along with connectivity its level of economic activity would be bound to increase. One reason why the tax concessions within these states failed to attract significant industrial investment would be they weren’t enough to offset its logistical costs of moving product to high consumption regions. On 2 December 2018, its bridge opened as its first freight train crossed it. On December 25, 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated its Bogibeel bridge, on its birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and also flag off an intercity express connecting Tinsukia and Naharlagun. The total cost of the job ultimately escalated to 5, 960 crores .
