WHAT IS SULPHUR CONCRETE?
ØSulphur concrete is a composite construction material, composed of sulfur, coarse aggregate & sand.
ØSulphur is heated to bring it into molten condition to which coarse and fine aggregate is poured and mixed together.
ØOn cooling, this mixture gave fairly good strength, exhibited acid resistance and also other chemical resistance, but it proved to be costlier than ordinary cement concrete.
ØIt is reported that a compressive strength of about 100 Mpa could be achieved in about 2 day’s time.
ØIt is used in the manufacture of pre-cast roofing elements, sewer pipes, and railway sleepers.
