WHAT IS PERVIOUS CONCRETE?
ØPervious concrete is also called as porous concrete, permeable concrete is special types of concrete with high porosity used for concrete Flat work application that allow water from precipitation and other sources to pass directly through thereby reducing the runoff from a site and allowing groundwater recharge.
ØPervious concrete is the mixture of cement, coarse aggregate, and water with no fine aggregate or very less quantity of fine aggregate.
ØIt has water-cement ratio 0.28 to 0.4 with a void content 15 to 25 %
ØPervious concrete is allowed 50% infiltration whereas impervious concrete allows only 15%
ØPervious concrete is lightweight with a density of 1600 to 1900 kg/m3
ØCompressive strength is achieved by pervious concrete in the range of 3 Mpa to 30 Mpa
ØCuring for pervious concrete slabs and pavement start before the concrete is placed, the subgrade must be moistened to prevent water absorption from concrete.
